Espalier Landscape Architecture supports both residential and commercial landscape architecture projects with designs that integrate purpose, function and aesthetics.

Founded by Joe Comer, ASLA, Espalier Landscape Architecture is a private landscape architecture firm based in Fairhope, Ala., that features a diverse portfolio of residential gardens and hardscapes, retail/shopping and commercial developments, park planning and design, sports fields and institutional projects.

Espalier draws on Joe’s 16 years of landscape design experience that includes stints at an Atlanta-based environmental design firm and for a Fairhope-based design-build landscape contractor.

While in Atlanta, Joe gained extensive landscape design knowledge by working on such projects as riparian greenways, multi-use trail systems, park master planning, bio-retention, stream restoration and hospital master planning.

When he returned to the Gulf Coast, he gained a strong understanding of landscape construction and installation processes as a landscape architect and project manager. But it was his passion for landscape design that prompted him to establish Espalier.
